Friedrich Hamker studied in a dual study programme at the Hamburg School of Business Administration, which he finished with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. He spent the practical part of his education with the Archer Daniels Midland Company with a focus on trade with regenerative fuels.

In September 2008 he attended the University of Illinois and then went on to the European School of Economics in Milan where he graduated with a Masters of Science in Marketing. His dissertation examined Intercultural Management.

After gaining professional executive search experience at Kienbaum Executive Consultants in Munich he joined the start-up of IBN Recruitment in January 2010 in Stellenbosch and Cape Town.
